Lesson Plan – March 13, 2024

The Power of Daily Devotions.

Part 11 – More on The Holy Spirit III.

Welcome to Part 11 of our small group sessions. The last time we met, our subject was “More on The Holy Spirit II.” We looked at the “Guidance of The Holy Spirit” and how the “Holy Spirit takes what is Christs’ and declares it to us.” This has to do with growing in the knowledge of Christ.

Today we will discuss “More on The Holy Spirit III” emphasizing “The Holy Spirit is Distributable.” This has to do with God graciously distributing the graces and attributes of the Holy Spirit according to His will. He does this when we are alone with Him during private devotional times or when we meet as a congregation anywhere to worship Him.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:3-4 NKJV

Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

Acts 9:31 NKJV

Scripture Memory (Re-read and Recognize)

Before we go further please take a few minutes to reread the Memory Verses from previous sessions. Which ones are you most familiar with? A new one is Romans 14:17 Try it!

Mark 1:35, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 1 John 2:6, Acts 17:30, Luke 11:13, Galatians 5:22-23, Acts 10:38, Romans 14:17.

Guided Discussions.

God Distributes… According To His Will

God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

Hebrews 2:3 NKJV

God distributes The Person, gifts, and workings of the Holy Spirit to His children. Did you know that after quality time with the Lord, He fills you with His Spirit? And as a result, you can go out and be a conduit of His grace to others. (See Acts 4:31 and 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.) Our daily time with God for fellowship should not be an empty exercise. It should bring about divine attributes and blessings in our lives. One of these is the fruit of the Spirit presented in Galatians 5:22-23. Other blessings are such things as healing, spontaneous praise, clarity of purpose, power, miracles, downloads etc.

Read and discuss what you see in the Holy Scriptures.

Can you prove from the scriptures below that God distributes the Presence, gifts, and attributes of The Spirit to His people? What are some Divine attributes you think we receive by being in God’s presence? Can you spot any from the verses below?

Numbers 11:1-25, Psalm 16:11, Isaiah 12:3-5, Hebrews 2:3-4, Acts 2:3-4, Luke 11:13, Joel 2:28-29

And because His Grace is distributable we should come out daily living victoriously spreading the joy, comfort, and strength we receive from Him wherever we go. Let us see and example of what this looks like in practice:

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life.

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 NKJV

Part 11 Summary and Conclusion

God is generous and wants to distribute the gifts of His Spirit to you and all His children (your brothers and sisters in Christ.) A person who regularly meets with the Father and the Son for fellowship doing so with the help of the Holy Spirit will receive grace in their life to become a conduit of grace. Can we say that we become DISTRIBUTORS of what God has given us?
