Lesson Plan – January 2, 2019

Where is Your Faith?

Read Luke 18:8, 2 Corinthians 13:5

Introduction

The scripture as most believers are aware defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Jesus asked the question; “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Consecutive studies by Barna group up to May 2017 shows a steady decline in Church attendance and adherence to Christian faith principles.

Faith is mostly all in the “evidence” as we shall see.

Discussing the all important “evidence”

As Abraham (often called the father of faith, Romans 4:11) was the EVIDENCE of faith in that he obeyed God by his actions, YOU are also the evidence of faith or the lack of it in what you do and how you live. What is the evidence of faith like?

Which of these “7 faith-o-meter” questions can you identify with?

  • Fool for Christ’s sake? 1 Corinthians 4:10
  • Funnel of grace?
  • Funding God’s Kingdom projects?
  • Fired up by and being filled with the Holy Spirit? Acts 4:31
  • Fasting with prayer regularly?
  • Forming the future from today?
  • Fighting the enemy? Ephesians 6:12-18

Conclusion

The objective of this study is to show that faith is not separate from the individual. The evidence of faith is what I do just as it was for Abraham and all the other scripture examples.
