Lesson Plan – October 24, 2018

Introduction

Grace and Peace are essential foundations of our Christian faith. It is by “grace we have been saved through faith…” Ephesians 2:8-9. God’s grace is His unmerited favour towards us. When we come to know Jesus personally, we have “made peace with God.” Romans 5:1. Paul in all but one of his letters to the churches of the first century (applicable to us today) always began with a prayer for grace and peace. Here are a few examples:

1 Corinthians 1:1-3, Galatians 1:1-3, Ephesians 1:1-3.

Discussion

Discuss the concept of divine grace as you understand it.

Why do you think Apostle Paul opened his letters most times with a prayer for grace and peace?

Why do you think the experience of peace is important for us as followers of Jesus?

Conclusion

We have a responsibility to pray grace and peace for ourselves and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Paul said we are to imitate him as he imitated Jesus. See 1 Corinthians 11:1. May you grow in grace and peace. 2 Peter 3:18.
